Jackal is a type of monster in ADOM. Whilst they are one of the most ordinary monsters in ADOM with no special powers, jackals were once notorious for potentially becoming incredibly powerful due to an oversight with the KPL system in v. 1.1.1, by an effect to which the jackal gave its name. Whilst it is quite uncommon to encounter a lone jackal, many of them can be killed during fights with common jackalweres and/or wilderness encounters -- making later instances becoming very high levelled.

Jackals enjoy hunting in large packs on the plains of Ancardia. They also take care of all the corpses nobody wants to eat. Due to the increasing number of luckless adventurers in the Drakalor Chain, they are presently having a helluva good time.
