Jackalwere is a type of monster in ADOM. Not usually powerful themselves, they are most notable for summoning large packs of jackals to help them. They can also sing in melee range, which may put the PC to sleep.

Jackalweres are often encountered in the wilderness, along with large packs of jackals. They are often found in the Pyramid as well.

Eating a werebeast causes sickness. As the PC realises after eating one, it is definitely not a wise move.

Collective description

The origin of the jackalweres is rather mysterious. No one seems to remember when they first appeared in Ancardia and where they came from. Jackalweres possess magical powers. When they feel cornered, they can summon dozens of companions who will sacrifice their lives to defend them. Another powerful weapon is their strangely melancholic song. Don't listen too closely; you'll have trouble to keep your eyes open.

Females only

A rather small and slightly bent human, who appears to have a long protruding mouth and sports claws instead of nails on slender hands covered with rich yellow hair. Her eyes unfocus in a shamanic trance, and there is a ghostly yapping as ethereal canine shapes begin to move in the air, rapidly solidifying and becoming more and more real.
