Rocks are missiles that can be either thrown or used in a Sling. They have default stats of ( 0, 1d4), although variations from this are common. They cannot have magical prefixes or suffixes except heir gift for hurthling archers.

Ценность[править | править исходный текст]

They are the single most common type of missile in the game, and contrary to arrows and quarrels they can be thrown if the player does not have a sling. While the lack of slaying properties on any kind of rock is disheartening, the sheer number of rocks available in any game makes achieving a high weapon skill in either Thrown Rocks and Clubs or Slings a trivial task.

Many players will use rocks in the early game if they did not start out with ranged weaponry, and some will continue using rocks exclusively. While slaying ammunition makes it tempting to switch to bows or crossbows later, games have been won with a very high level in thrown rocks alone. This is an especially viable option for hurthlings, who start out with a very good Thrown Rocks and Clubs skill and need only two-thirds as many marks to increase it further.

Где найти[править | править исходный текст]

They can be obtained in the same manner as all generic loot. They are frequently dropped by monsters that use slings, such as goblin rockthrowers, ogres and many others. After Mining out walls it is possible to find a pile of rocks as well, regardless if this is performed by the player or wandering dwarves, or giant ants. They are also frequently left behind when the player opens a tension room. Casting the Earthquake spell will leave behind nearly unbelievable amounts as well. And these are only the more regular ways of obtaining rocks.
