The Trident of the Red Rooster is a two-handed artifact polearm. It is extremely hard to obtain, but is essential for Ultra Endings. While it is possible to get it when not attempting an ultra ending, the time and effort required is extremely off-putting.

It grants all four elemental immunities, boosts your Mana by 24, slays demons and undead, has terrific damage stats and has a number of other positive effects, making it one of the most powerful weapons in ADOM.
Not only that, but it is the crucial item for any player attempting an Ultra ending, as it allows passage through the Chaos Gate for champions of all three deities (provided they are also wearing the Medal of Chaos and Crown of Chaos) and the enormous power required to fight off or control chaos influences. The only other way to enter the Chaos Gate unharmed is by wielding the Sceptre of Chaos instead if crowned chaotic. This will only allow access to the Ordinary chaos god ending. Note that if you enter the Chaos Gate with the TotRR, but do not have it equipped when killing Andor Drakon, you will not win the game, you will simply become a wretched chaos servant. Since Andor Drakon counts as a demon, the trident is probably the most damaging weapon against him anyway - only a beastfighter may find himself forced to think otherwise.
In short, if you are attempting an Ultra Ending you must do whatever is necessary to recover the TotRR.

It is an undead slayer. It is a demon slayer. It modifies your mana attribute by 24. This weapon returns when thrown. It grants resistance to death attacks. It grants the ability to see invisible things. It grants immunity to fire. It grants immunity to acid. It grants immunity to cold attacks. It grants immunity to shock attacks. It grants the ability to breathe water.
